Borrowing Books
|
A library card is required whenever borrowing items such as books or magazines. |
|
◎ Anyone who lives, works, or goes to school in Suita city is eligible to borrow resources.(Proof of school or work is required.)
◎ Fill out an application form and bring it to the counter along with your official proof document for verification of your name and address (such as health insurance card, driver’s license, student ID card or foreign resident registration card.)
◎ Regarding the library card:
・You can use it at any city library or mobile book van in Suita city.
・Please tell us if you lose your library card, or if you change your name and/or address.
・The library card is valid for five years.
◎ Resouces such as books or magazines in libraries are important citizens’ assets. PLEASE NOTE: You have to pay for any materials that you have lost, ruined or have written on.

Necessary steps to renew the loan period |
|
◎ Please provide us with your library card number and the numbers or names of the borrowed items before their due date by phone or other means.
The loan period of any items cannot be extended if they have already been reserved by another person.
◎ The loan period can be extended by two weeks from the date you contact the library.
◎ It is only possible to renew the loan period of items once.
◎ As long as you have your own password and your account is in good standing, you can apply for renewal through the Internet or user’s terminals.

Please return all borrowed items to the “Returns Counter”. |
|
◎ You may return all borrowed items to any city library or book van in the city.
◎ Outside of library hours, please return borrowed items into the book drop. PLEASE NOTE: Audio-visual materials and books borrowed from other libraries outside of Suita are to be directly returned to the counter of the library from where you borrowed them during library hours.
(Exception: You may put CDs, cassettes, videotapes, or DVDs in the audio-visual materials drops of Senriyama-Saidera Library called “Chisato” and Yamada-Ekimae Library.)

You may reserve materials if they are not currently on the shelves. |
|
◎ You may reserve materials by phone, filling out a reservation form, through the Internet or the library’s user’s terminals.
◎ We are happy to obtain items requested by you from other libraries in Osaka or neighboring cities even if the items are not held in Suita city libraries.
◎ You may reserve CDs, cassettes, videotapes, and DVDs belonging to Suita city libraries. Request for the purchase of such items is not available.
Reservation for audio-visual materials from book vans is not available either.
PLEASE NOTE: The library card of a person who reserved an item is required to pick up the reserved item.
◎ Please do not hesitate to ask a librarian for help in finding any books, magazines or story telling picture cards you are looking for.

Using your Password

◎ You need to come to the library in person with your library card and your proof of identification (such as health insurance card, driver’s license, student ID card or foreign resident registration card) for verification of your name and address.
Primary age school children or younger children need their parent’s written consent to apply for a password. The consent form is available at any city library.

Reservations can be made through the Internet or users’ terminals in the libraries. |
|
◎ You can make reservations for books or magazines housed in the libraries through the Internet or by the library’s user’s terminals.
◎ We will let you know when your requested items are available. Please register youre-mail address in advance if you prefer to be contacted by e-mail.
◎ You can check your library account through the Internet or by the library’s user’s terminals.

Book-start (your baby’s first book) |
|
◎ Suita city will give your baby a picture book hoping that he or she will grow up with a love of books and reading.
・A leaflet of the system will be sent to you from the health center along with the medical checkup notification for your baby.
・You can choose one out of five picture books.
・You can pick it up at your nearest city library or a book van.
・Please bring your maternity passbook along with you.
・Please pick it up while your baby is between the age of 4 month to 1 year.

◎ We offer various courses or organize story-telling sessions for children. Please feel free to join us.

Copying Service : available in all the city libraries except Kita-senri Branch Library. |

◎ You may make copies of resources belonging to the libraries at cost. Copyright laws apply.

The Internet |
|
◎ You can use the Internet terminal for free at any Suita city library for up to 30min. at a time.
|
Enjoying audio-visual materials such as CDs or DVDs |
|
◎ You can preview CDs at Sankusu Library and Senriyama-Saidera Library (Chisato).
◎ You can preview CDs and DVDs at Yamada-Ekimae Library.
|

Please return borrowed items on time
|
|
If any borrowed items are more than 7 days overdue, you are not allowed to borrow or reserve any others until you return them.
・You cannot borrow any items.
・You cannot reserve any items.
・You cannot borrow any reserved items even if the reservation was successfully made.
・Any reserved items will be cancelled unless you return the overdue item in time. (one week after receiving the notification of the arrival of your reserved item).
◎ Please renew the loan period of borrowed items in advance if you cannot return them by the deadline.
